What this kit is

This is a miniature house kit you build yourself, piece by piece. The parts arrive laser-cut, so you push them out and fit them together. Some joints press tight on their own. Other parts need glue, so keep a bottle on your work table. The finished build is a small room or shop front with furniture, shelving, and small details made from wood, paper, and fabric.

A warm LED light comes in the box. It gives the finished room a soft glow, like a lamp left on in a quiet shop window. You supply the batteries.

How to build it

Set aside a few evenings. Most builders finish in a handful of sessions, working in order through the instructions.

  1. Sort the laser-cut sheets by letter or number if the instructions label them.
  2. Push out the parts for one step at a time. Keep the rest on the sheet so nothing gets lost.
  3. Dry-fit before gluing. If a joint is tight, sand the tab a little.
  4. Glue only the parts that need it. A thin bead is enough. Wipe away extra glue before it sets.
  5. Run the LED wire before you close up walls or ceilings. It is much harder to thread later.
  6. Add the fabric and paper details last, once the frame is solid.

Work on a tray or a mat. Small parts roll, and a tray keeps them in one place.

Where to put it

These kits suit a bookshelf, a desk, or a mantel. The warm LED light makes them read well in the evening. They also work as a gift for a reader, a crafter, or anyone who likes small, detailed things.

If you plan to display it on a shelf, leave a little space behind it for the light wire and the battery pack.

Care and handling

Dust with a soft brush or a dry cloth. Do not wipe with a wet cloth, since paper and fabric parts can warp or stain. Keep the build out of direct sun so colors hold. If you move it, lift from the base, not the roof or walls. Store spare parts in a small bag in case a piece comes loose later.

This kit is for ages 14 and up. The small parts are not food, so keep them away from anyone who might put them in their mouth.
