What this kit is

The Christmas Village Cottage Kit is a wooden miniature house kit made for a holiday village scene. Each kit arrives as parts only. You press the wooden pieces together to form a small cottage that fits a shelf, mantel or tabletop village layout.

The build is quiet and hands-on. There is no glue and no wiring. The finished house stands on its own as a small piece of a larger Christmas village sets collection.

Size and scale

Every style builds to the same footprint, so you can mix styles in one village and keep the rows even.

At roughly 3.7 in (9.5 cm) tall, the cottage sits well beside other village houses and small figures. Check the depth before you place it, since 3.7 in (9.5 cm) needs a little room front to back.

Styles

You pick one style at checkout:

• Twin-gable cottage
• Cottage with side wing
• Tall cottage

Each style is a different wooden cottage design in the same size. Because the footprint matches across styles, you can line up several houses along a shelf or build a small street. The kits are sold as parts only, so each style is a separate build.

What is included and what is not

Included: wooden parts for one cottage in the style you choose.

Not included: light. This kit has no light, so the finished house does not glow on its own. If you want a lit village, plan to add your own separate lighting or place the house near a small lamp.

Not included: glue. The pieces press together, so no adhesive is needed.

Not included: paint, tools or figures. The wood arrives unfinished, ready for you to leave natural or finish your own way.

How to build and display it

Set out the wooden parts and work on a flat, clean surface. Press the pieces together in order, checking that each joint sits flush before moving on. The build is small, so a tray or shallow box helps keep parts from rolling away.

Once built, the cottage works in several spots:

• A Christmas village shelf or mantel display
• A tabletop scene with other village houses
• A bookcase shelf between books
• A desk or entryway table for the season

The kit is rated for ages 14 and up. Small parts mean it is not for younger hands.

Care and storage

The wood is unfinished, so keep the finished house away from moisture and direct heat. Wipe it with a dry cloth or a soft brush to clear dust. Do not soak it or use wet cleaners.

For storage, wrap the house in tissue or cloth and lay it flat in a box. Keep it out of damp basements and attics. Handled gently, it can come back out each holiday season and take its place in your village again.
